Armando Barrios

Born in Caracas in September 21, 1920.
Begun studies in the Escuela de Artes Plasticas y Aplicadas in Caracas, finishing them at the Paris abstract art study and the Art Institute, Roma. As a painter, made his first journey to Paris in 1948 when his style became more abstract, he joined to the Dissident group in 1950. Barrios moves through an abstract geometric stage and paints in this style. A mural for the Caracas University City. Moves back to figuration from 1954, keeping the stylistic and rhythmic composition and flat structure of his abstract era and by this way full fills his evolution to these days.

As chairman of the Museo de Bellas Artes, Barrios performed an important renewal management in that institution between 1957 and 1958. During his management, created the Sociedad de amigos of the Museum and sponsored the development of Venezuelan art. And the enlargement and conditioning of the Museo de Bellas Artes.

Single exhibitions; gallery de France, Paris, 1951; gallery Saint-Augustin, Paris, 1956; Museo de Bellas Artes, 1945, 1940, 1951, 1959; and this last year also, in the gallery villier galanis, Paris.
