Biographies: Luis Guevara Moreno

Bio

Luis Guevara Moreno was born in Valencia, state Carabobo, the 21 of June of 1926. He studied in the Escuela de Artes Plásticas y Aplicadas de Caracas, between 1941 and 1945. Expelled from this center to promote reforms, one gets up the group of the Cabin of Maripérez, and works in ceramics. In 1948 he took part in the foundation of theTaller Libre de Arte. A year later travels scholar to Paris and here it frequents the factories of André Lothe, Dewasne and the Factory of Abstract Art, Edgar Pillet.

In 1950 he takes part in the formation of the group the Dissidents and the following year he assigns to the vanguards platform of the Madi group (contraction of dialectic materialism), that headed the Argentine artist Car it to me Arden Quin. Brown Guevara was of the flagmen of the geometric abstract art, exposes with compatriots and foreigners in the Gallery Suzanne Michel and the annual halls Réalités Nouvelles. He studies in the Superior School of Beautiful Arts of Paris with Ducos Delahaille and Marcel Jaudon. He travels to Italy. From then, he enters a creation crisis and returns to the figurative art. Within a critical intentionality and of ideological commitment, he revalues the figure with the experience of the abstractionist work and a expressionist instance. He participates in the international biennials of art of Venice, in 1956 and 1958. From return to the country, it is one of the most excellent creators of the call "New Figuration", next to Jacobo Borges and Régulo Perez. In quality of educational outstanding like drawing professor is had, stage scene and engraving. More important individual exhibitions: Athenian of Valencia, Carabobo state, 1941 and 1979;Taller Libre de Arte, 1948; Sala Mendoza, 1961, 1963, 1966, 1969, 1973 and 1978; MBA, 1961 and 1967; Gallery of the Consulate of Venezuela, New York, 1976; Anthological exhibition, GAN. You compensate: between many others, it received the National Prize of Plastic Arts, in XXIX the Salón Oficial de Venezuela, 1968.
